Tigers Kings of the Jungle

Wednesday, June 24, 2015 - 9:59 AM - by Dan Scamozzi

Claremont (Colts) have recorded a thumping 66-point win over Subiaco at the Showgrounds to cement their place on top of the ladder.

The Tigers’ fourth win from their past five games was built on a dominant opening term in which the side kicked four goals and held the Lions goalless, as the hosts prevailed 14.16 (100) to 4.10 (34).

The Tigers then held the Lions goalless in the final term with the hosts recording one of their best wins for the season.

The result was the eighth time Claremont have restricted their opposition to a score of under 10 goals in 2015.

Matt Guelfi, Ryan Murphy, Morgan Davies, Aden Wilkins, Declan Mountford and Bailey Rogers all won plenty of the football, while Jake Waterman was outstanding in his first game since round six due to State Under 18’s commitments.

Claremont’s full-time score was its highest since round 10, 2013, and also the first time the team has kicked 20 goals in a match under coach Michael Broadbridge, while its third term (9.1) was the biggest score the side has kicked in a quarter this season.
