A herculean performance from Bailey Rogers wasn’t enough to stop Claremont’s Reserves suffering a 53-point defeat to East Fremantle at East Fremantle Oval in the opening round of the 2017 McDonald's WAFL Premiership Season.
Rogers, thriving in his new role as a midfielder, worked tirelessly to finish with 31 disposals, several smothers and Claremont’s players’ player award in the 7.4 (46) to 15.9 (99) defeat, as the Tigers were outscored 13 goals to five after quarter-time.

Claremont’s 2017 McDonald's WAFL Premiership Season begins on Saturday afternoon when the Tigers take on East Fremantle at East Fremantle Oval.

A slick and ruthless South Fremantle proved too good for Claremont in the Tigers’ final pre-season hit-out at Fremantle Community Bank Oval last Saturday.
Despite an enthralling opening term that had scores level at quarter-time, the Bulldogs dominated the next hour of play on their way to a 57-point victory, 17.8 (110) 7.11 (53).

An inspired and resilient performance by Claremont (Reserves) saw the Tigers hold on for a 14-point win against South Fremantle in their second and final pre-season hit-out at Fremantle Community Bank Oval last Saturday.
Despite losing Jared Hardisty and Charles Le Fanu to ankle injuries in the opening term and Ben Musitano (finger) later in the game, a five-goal-to-three first quarter set up the Tigers’ 11.11 (77) to 9.9 (63) victory.

Jack Richardson handpassing to Keifer Yu, who got the ball on to Anton Hamp. That was a delightful passage of cohesive play late in the opening quarter of Claremont’s practice match at East Fremantle Oval on Saturday morning. The move ended with Bailey Rogers snapping a goal.
The decision to use Rogers as a midfielder was the most significant feature of the scratch match which was played in enervating heat and ended in an 11-point victory to the blue side over the gold combination.
