2020 WAFL SEASON POSTPONED

Following information and advice provided by the AFL and State peak football bodies, the WAFL season will be postponed until 31 May.

Former Claremont footballer and club president Ian Goldie has died, aged in his early eighties.

He was a ruckman/forward who played in 24 league matches, making his debut against East Fremantle at East Fremantle Oval on June 9, 1956. His final appearance was in the round two match against West Perth at Leederville Oval on April 23, 1960.

Irwin Lewis, a member of Claremont’s 1964 league premiership team, has died at the age of 80.

Born in Morawa, Lewis is acknowledged as the second Aboriginal footballer to have represented the Tigers at league level (after Maley Hayward, from Tambellup, played in all 18 matches in 1928).
