Claremont gets its season underway this Saturday when they take on Perth at Brownes Stadium.

It will be Michael Broadbridge’s first game in charge of the Tigers since taking over the reins from premiership coach Marc Webb, who has joined the Fremantle Dockers coaching staff.

Tigers vice-captain, 2011 Sandover medallist and three time EB Cook (fairest-and-best) medallist Luke Blackwell will play his 100^th WAFL game.

John Williams, used almost exclusively as a defender in his first season with Claremont in 2013, looks set for an important new role this year.

New coach Michael Broadbridge has used Williams in attack in the club’s interclub scratch matches against South Fremantle and Swan Districts, and the experiment has been highly successful.

The Club will auction off 12 groups of senior players [total of 64 players]

25% of the total money received will be allocated to the Claremont Football Club i.e. if the total pool is $30,000 then $7,500 will go to the Claremont Football Club.

75% of the total pool will become the final kitty.  i.e. the final kitty total being $22,500 divided by 20 = $1,125per game.

Dual premiership player Andrew Foster has reversed his decision to retire, and will pull on the boots for Claremont this season.

After announcing his retirement at the end of last season, the 116 game midfielder has seen work commitments fall his way.

Midfielder Jake Murphy will lead Claremont in 2014 after being announced as the club's new captain.

Murphy, replaces the retired Andrew Browne and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“It’s a bit of a dream come true,” Murphy said.

“I’ve always aspired to be a leader or captain for the footy club. I’ve got big shoes to fill, but it’s something I’m excited about.”
