Country Zoned Players Seeking Accommodation For 2015 Season

Thursday, December 18, 2014 - 3:00 PM - by Warren Parker

Each season a number of gifted footballers make the journey from our Kimberley and Great Southern Zones to the city to represent the Claremont Football Club.

Many of these players are 17 or 18 years of age and are leaving their family homes for the first time, seeking employment and housing to assist them as they pursue their footballing dreams.

We would like to reach out to all members of the ‘Claremont Family’ and ask those in a position to assist these players in their transition to raise your hands and contact us.

If you have a spare room or rental property that you can offer to a player or can assist in taking on an apprentice or employing an extra staff member please let us know. No offer is too small and all will be appreciated.

Fans’ Favourite Returns to “Tigerland”

Monday, December 8, 2014 - 2:25 PM - by Dan Scamozzi

The man known simply as “Richo” to Claremont fans is back at “Tigerland”. After travelling in 2014, Ian Richardson will pull on the boots for the Tigers in 2015 and continue an amazing WAFL career which already consists of 126 League games, 306 goals, two premierships, and a best-and-fairest medal. I recently caught up with the cult hero to see how he was, and how he was shaping up after a well-earned break.

Tigers Make The Jump

Wednesday, December 3, 2014 - 11:52 AM

Of nine West Australians to be selected in last week’s 2014 AFL National draft, two were from the Claremont Football Club. A further two players were selected in today’s AFL Rookie draft continuing Claremont’s unparalleled success in providing players to the nation’s elite football competition.

After winning the minor premiership the past four years and with two of those seasons sealed with premiership flags, 2014 was always going to bring fresh challenges to tigerland with a host of champions lost to retirement and travel before the season began.

Despite a tough start, Claremont was able to unearth yet another crop of developing stars with 13 fresh faces to don the gold sash for the first time over the course of the year. This injection of talented youngsters saw the tigers win eight of the last nine games of the season to only narrowly miss the finals, and become the only side in the competition to beat every other side over the course of the year in the process.

Claremont teenagers Jared Hardisty and Brenden Abbott have been snapped up in the AFL rookie draft and they leave the club with the best wishes with all associated with the Tigers.

They have much in common. They are powerfully-built left-footers and fearless competitors.

The 18-year-old Hardisty was chosen as pick No. 18 by Hawthorn in today’s rookie draft and Abbott (19) was taken at No. 26 by Collingwood.

Shimmon Leaves An Indelible Mark

Thursday, November 6, 2014 - 10:44 AM - by Ken Casellas

Ever since 17-year-old Todd Shimmon donned the No. 19 jumper and booted three goals in his first appearance in the Claremont colts side, against South Fremantle at Claremont Oval in 1982, has he been a dedicated and passionate Tiger.

He has been a wonderful stalwart of the club in a variety of roles for 27 years and now all at Claremont bid him a fond farewell and wish him all the best in his move to East Fremantle as the chief executive officer of the Sharks.

He is accepting a new challenge in life with his customary enthusiasm after leaving an indelible mark at the club where he has served in the role of general manager and CEO for 14 years, a record term in the 89-year history of the club.
