EAST Fremantle scored a crucial Round 20 WAFL victory on Saturday to shoot up to third position on the ladder at the expense of Perth and East Perth who both suffered defeats to help the Sharks make their move.

It was tough, hard slog at Leederville Oval on Saturday in the mud and slush and deep puddles of water when robust half-forward flanker Matt Davies set the standard for Claremont by applying a fierce tackle on Subiaco’s Tristan Gum just past the five-minute mark of the opening quarter.

ROUND 19 of the WAFL season was played in some terrible conditions across Perth but the results saw West Perth and East Fremantle score big derby wins, Swan Districts move back up to third position and Claremont return to the winner's list.
