Thursday, January 28, 2016 - 4:36 PM by Jessie Fear

Exciting times ahead for Tiges.

Football Operations Manager, Darcy Coffey, gives a thrilling insight on the Claremont Football Club's six newest players.

Despite a number of high profile departures following the 2015 season, the Tigers are set to roar again in 2016 with the addition of some exciting fresh faces to the senior squad. With training in full swing and our season opener less than two months away, we take a look at the 2016 recruits here:

Brenden Abbott

Collingwood – AFL

Rookie listed by Collingwood in 2015, Brenden kicked 14 goals in 8 VFL games before his season was abruptly ended by a shoulder injury. As an Albany product originally out of the Royals Football Club, Abbott returns to Claremont to provide further firepower to the tigers arsenal, and with his explosive speed and penetrating left foot, is sure to add to his tally of 18 goals in 15 league games from his exciting 2014 debut season.

Jared Hardisty

Hawthorn – AFL

A part of the Hawthorn AFL juggernaut in 2015, Hardisty is another who returns to the club after a year in an elite system. A hard running, strong bodied onballer Hardisty will seek to make the most of the wide open spaces in the WAFL competition and use his elite fitness to full effect. Jared will also be looking to add further silverware to his trophy cabinet which already contains a colts B&F award and a Colts premiership medallion, with a league premiership firmly in the popular midfielder’s sights.

Rowen Powell

WCE – AFL

After two years with the West Coast Eagles, Powell is another former CFC product to return to the fold in 2016. A colt’s premiership player with the club in 2013, Rowen went on to play 13 league games with WC aligned club East Perth, highlighted by an outstanding 3 goal game that helped extinguish Claremont’s Premiership aspirations in the 2015 elimination final! Originally from Broome, Powell is a rangy, neatly skilled utility whose size and fitness make him a versatile player and an extremely tough opponent.

Jye Bolton

Werribee Football Club – VFL

After a number of years as a dominant player in the VFL Competition, Bolton will bring his class and exceptional ball winning ability to the tiger’s midfield in 2016. Rookie listed by Collingwood Football Club in 2011, Bolton has most recently plied his trade with the Werribee Football Club where honours included selection in the VFL team of the year and a R/U B&F. At only 23 years of age and with his best football still ahead of him, Tiger fans can expect big things from this young man in 2016.

Dylan Ross

South Fremantle – WAFL

After 58 league games in 5 years at South Fremantle, Ross returns to his club of origin to add further quality and experience to the Tigers defensive line in 2016. With state 18s representation and 8 CFC league games before his move to the Bulldogs, Ross will provide a ready-made replacement for the departing Jordan McAllister, and will also combine his playing return with employment in the clubs district development department.

Tom Shanahan

East Perth – WAFL

Starved of opportunity at East Perth, Shanahan is regarded as one of the best emerging midfielder talents in the WAFL competition. A Prendergast Medal winner in 2015 highlighted by 7 games in which he amassed over 30 possessions, Tom will look to further complement the young Claremont midfield brigade with his hallmark tenacity and fearless attack on the ball sure to impress tiger’s fans and foes alike.

Be sure to follow the boy's lead and become part of the Claremont Football Cub  dynasty for 2016!! What an exciting year ahead.
