Round 16 Preview Claremont vs. South Fremantle
Claremont will be looking to replace South Fremantle in the top five when the Tigers host the Bulldogs at the Showgrounds on Saturday.
In what is the Tigers’ first of eight matches in a challenging run to the opening week of the finals, the side will be looking for consecutive wins after enjoying its final bye in round 15.
The Tigers recorded a 68-point drubbing of East Fremantle before the week off, while the Bulldogs claimed a thrilling two-point win over Swan Districts and will also be well rested.
The Bulldogs claimed a comfortable victory in the previous meeting between the sides back in round three, however, the Tigers ran out winners in the corresponding fixture last year.
The clash will feature two of the top ten goal kickers so far this season in Claremont’s Jack Bradshaw and South Fremantle’s Cory Dell-Olio who have kicked 25 and 22 majors respectively.
Haydn Busher has been a welcome addition to the Tigers in 2015, and the former Perth player is set to line up in his 50th game.
A win for the Tigers could see them jump to third position on the ladder depending on other results, while this weekend is “NAIDOC Round”, and will celebrate the heritage, achievements and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Claremont and South Fremantle initiated WAFL NAIDOC Round in 2007 when they wore jumpers designed by Aboriginal artist Richard Walley.
The Claremont Football Club will also be hosting its “Family Fun Day” with a range of activities and competitions at the ground.
The club encourages all fans to attend the game and support the mighty Tigers.
Bounce down is 2.10pm.
