Consecutive Wins for Tigers
Claremont has won its second game in a row after the Tigers ran out 11-point winners over Swan Districts at Sounness Park in Mount Barker.
With scores level at quarter-time, a five-goal second term saw an inaccurate Tigers’ outfit prevail 10.18 (78) to 10.7 (67).
The win sees Claremont improve their record to 2-5 after a slow start to the season, however, the team is starting to gather momentum and will look to welcome back some senior players in the coming weeks.
A strong defence and an ability to share the ball between a number of players paved the way for the Tigers’ victory, with the high-scoring Swans entering the clash on the back of their big win over Peel Thunder.
Tom Ledger continued his strong form as he won plenty of the football to go with nine marks, eight I50m entries and one goal, while Oliver Tate took home the match ball after being voted best on ground.
Kepler Bradley and Jack Bradshaw were the Tigers’ sole multiple goal kickers, while the hard-working and acting captain Ian Richardson performed strongly despite kicking 1.4.
In defence, the Tigers were well served by Brandon Franz and Jordan McAllister despite the pair copping knocks, while Matt Davies performed strongly across half-back in his 50th game.
After returning from an ankle injury in the Reserves last round, John Williams was recalled to the side in place of Matt Goyder and will have benefited from the run.
Mark Seaby was fantastic in the ruck as he builds towards his best form following a delayed start to the season, while Mitchell Andrews was replaced in the side by Shane McAdam.
Despite the Tigers being held goalless in the third term as the Swans piled on three goals, the side were able to respond in the final quarter, and will look to register their third consecutive win when they welcome East Perth to the Show Grounds in round nine.
