Swift Hungry For More Success
Tom Swift has the hunger for football back and is primed to make his return with the Claremont Football Club in 2015.
Since quitting footy at just 22 to focus on his studies, the former West Coast and Tigers midfielder has completed a Commerce degree at UWA, and is pursuing a career in finance.
But Swift is now itching to get back on the park, alongside his mates at Tigerland.
“It’s pretty exciting.” Swift said.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute I’ve been down there so far.
“I’ve had a bit of a hunger come back. To be honest, I’ve missed it the whole time.”
Now 24, Swift believes he’s in top condition heading into the season.
“From a fitness perspective, mostly where that’s come from is surf life saving. I’ve been down at North Cott Surf Life Saving Club where I’ve been pretty active and I’m probably fitter than I’ve ever been.”
Swift returns to the Tigers as a two-time premiership player at the club, and with 34 games under his belt at West Coast after being drafted in 2008.
He is tipping an exciting season ahead.
“The guys have been training the house down. Coming back and seeing what kind of condition everyone, from the youngest bloke to the oldest bloke is in, is pretty impressive and I think from all reports everyone’s pushed themselves to new limits.”
Swift’s return also reunites him with Michael Broadbridge, who was the skills coach for much of his time at West Coast.
“Broady’s awesome. The thing that stood out for me was the positivity he brings to the group and belief he instils in the players.
“Come round one everyone should be ready to hit the ground running. I don’t think there’ll be any excuses.”
The Tigers open their campaign against reigning champion Subiaco at Medibank Stadium on March 21.
