1st Semi Final Preview Reserves | Claremont vs. East Fremantle
Claremont (Reserves) face East Fremantle at ATOM Stadium (East Fremantle Oval) this Sunday after securing their place in the finals following a 62-point win over East Perth in round 23.
The Tigers finished the season in third position with a 13-7 record, while the Sharks rounded out the top four despite a 108-point thumping by Subiaco in the final round.
With just one win separating the two teams after 23 rounds, it comes as no surprise that previous encounters this season were tight affairs.
The Tigers ran out 18-point winners at this Sunday’s venue in round four, while a 21-point win followed in round 18 at the Show Grounds.
Claremont enter the do-or-die clash in ominous form, having won seven of their eight previous matches, and may call on the experience of several League players.
The Tigers haven’t conceded 100 points since round 11, while the Sharks have won just two of their past five matches.
Sam Fong and Max Bentley will look to win their fair share of the football through the midfield, while Jack Richardson (seven goals in his last two games), Jackson Starcevich, Shane McAdam and Ashley Fitzgerald will prove focal points in attack.
Claremont’s defence has been brilliantly served by the likes of Timm House, Jack McPhee and Sam Lamont all season, while Ben Taylor has been in excellent form of late.
Darcy Cameron and Josh Tilley will look to gain an advantage in the ruck, having formed a formidable partnership this season.
The winner of the match will take on either Subiaco or West Perth in the Preliminary Final.
Bounce down is at 11.25am.
