Powerful defender Jack Beeck has damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will miss the entire 2020 season.

The 24-year-old left-footer was injured in a marking duel in an intra-club scratch match at Revo Fitness Stadium last Saturday.

“It’s devastating,” said Football Operations Manager Kepler Bradley. “He was flying and will be a great loss to the side.”

Beeck also received a serious ACL injury in a marking duel during a pre-season training session at John XXIII College in November 2016, which required a full knee reconstruction and forced him to miss the 2017 season.

He returned in fine style for the 2018 season when he played in 19 league matches and finished sixth in the club’s fairest-and-best award. He was a strong and consistent performer in his 20 league appearances last year and was looking forward to another good season this year.

Beeck started at Claremont with the colts in 2012 and made his league debut in the round six match against Peel Thunder at Rushton Park on April 26, 2015. He played 30 matches with the colts and 24 for the reserves before chalking up 70 league matches to date.
