Former Claremont footballer and club president Ian Goldie has died, aged in his early eighties.

He was a ruckman/forward who played in 24 league matches, making his debut against East Fremantle at East Fremantle Oval on June 9, 1956. His final appearance was in the round two match against West Perth at Leederville Oval on April 23, 1960.

Goldie was co-opted on to the Claremont board in 1984. After two years on the board he was elected, unopposed, as president for the 1986 season. He relinquished the presidency late in the year to take up a position on the WAFL’s independent Board of management.
