Round 1 Preview: Claremont vs. East Fremantle

The opening round of the 2019 Optus WAFL Premiership Season takes place on Saturday afternoon, with Claremont hosting East Fremantle at Claremont Oval.

Ian Richardson and Kane Mitchell will lead the Tigers in 2019, with the club legends appointed co-captains, while powerful forward Tom Lee has been appointed vice-captain.

Darren Harris enters his third season as senior coach, and will be ably assisted by Simon Nimmo (player development), Trinity Handley (forwards), Steven Armstrong (midfield), Josh Pullman (defenders) and Percy Johnson (rucks).

Brayden Duckworth has replaced Armstrong as Reserves coach, while Ross McQueen enters his sixth season as Colts coach.

The new season will consist of 20 rounds, with every team to play each other twice and have two byes.

The Tiger Army provided terrific support to the team in 2018, and with an exciting and promising season set to unfold in 2019, the club encourages members and fans to attend the game and support the mighty Tigers.

Entry is FREE for kids under 16.
