Round 14 Preview Claremont v West Perth

Wednesday, June 21, 2017 - 10:51 AM

By Dan Scamozzi

A victory against West Perth on Saturday afternoon would give Claremont three consecutive wins, but also move the Tigers within one win of the third-placed Falcons and possibly into the top five.

After wins against Swan Districts and East Fremantle in the last two rounds, the Tigers have got their season back on track, with Saturday’s game looming as crucial for both teams.

It’s also an important day for the Claremont Football Club.

This Saturday is the club's annual “Proudies Day”, which aims to raise money for the care of former Claremont player Warrick Proudlove, who was seriously injured in a car accident in July 2011.

The Proudies Foundation Inc. was incorporated on 16th July 2012, with all funds raised by the Foundation going directly to Warrick’s care.

There will be a silent auction running on Saturday in the Member's Bar, this is your chance to purchase a 1937 Heritage Jumper worn by the players in the first match back at Claremont Oval a couple of weeks ago (see image below). Half of the money raised from the auction will be donated to the Proudies Foundation.

In preparation for the game this weekend Claremont Captain, Jake Murphy says, "Waz, along with his amazing family lead by Kevin and Trish, have an unbelievable fighting spirit that continuously inspires the boys.

"It is something the playing group will be drawing upon this week to get a win and celebrate Proudies Day with the whole Claremont football community" He said.

The club encourages all members and supporters to attend the match and cheer the Tigers to victory.
