League Report - Thunder too good for Tigers
By Dan Scamozzi
Claremont’s disappointing run of form has continued, with the Tigers suffering a 23-point defeat to Peel Thunder at Fremantle Community Bank Oval last Saturday.
In a disappointing performance, the Tigers were held goalless in the opening term and never recovered in the 8.7 (55) to 12.6 (78) defeat, which leaves the team winless in four matches and outside the top five for the first time this season.
Reactive football, poor skills and communication and an inability to penetrate Peel’s defence, led by Sam Collins (11 marks) and Griffin Logue, marred Claremont’s performance, with the Tigers needing to pick themselves up to resurrect their season.
Jared Hardisty (21 disposals, seven tackles) and Matt Guelfi displayed an appetite for the contest from start to finish, while Keifer Yu continued his strong form.
Ryan Murphy (24 disposals, two goals) showed he can have an impact at both ends, while Anthony Morabito (25 disposals, five tackles) made a promising League debut.
Ryan Neates returned from a month on the sidelines to add some badly-needed run-and-carry to the team, while Tom Lee chipped in with two goals.
Peel were led by Danyle Pearce (35 disposals, six inside 50s, one goal) and captain Gerald Ugle (four goals), while Leroy Jetta chipped in with three goals despite being reported for rough conduct against Jye Bolton.
The Tigers will look to rebound when they host Perth at the same venue in round nine.
