Winmar returns to Claremont
Friday, February 3, 2017 - 11:43 AM by Dan Scamozzi
Former St Kilda player Nick Winmar is Claremont’s latest signing, with the speedster set to bolster the Tigers’ playing stocks in 2017.
After being drafted from Claremont by St Kilda with pick No.32 in the 2009 AFL Draft, the club his second cousin Nicky played 230 games for, the 25-year-old played two games for the Saints before being delisted in 2012.
Winmar returned to play 20 League and two Foxtel Cup games for Claremont in 2013, before signing for Sydney University in the NEAFL.
Originally from Quairading in country WA, Winmar’s signature is a boost for the club and could help fill the void left by Francis Watson, who was last month selected by West Coast as a category B rookie.
