Round 23 Colts Match Report Claremont v Peel
Tigers too good for Thunder
By Dan Scamozzi
Claremont’s Colts face South Fremantle in the qualifying final at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday after defeating Peel Thunder by 22 points at the Showgrounds in Round 23.
Despite trailing by nine points at three-quarter time, the Tigers slammed on five goals to nil in the final term to prevail 11.11 (77) to 7.13 (55).
The result meant Claremont conceded the least amount of points and scored the most as both the No.1 ranked defensive and attacking team for the home-and-away season and also finished with the highest percentage (169.29) in the competition.
Claremont’s James Egan kicked three goals on debut, while Zaac Morgan (one goal) also lined up in his first game as the Tigers finished the season in second position on the ladder with a 15-5 record.
Jake Waterman relished his move to midfield to finish as one of the Tigers’ best players, while Seb Bentley was another strong performer and Shaquille Morton laid six tackles.
Callan England and Dylan Wallam both kicked two goals, while Tyson England had seven inside 50s.
Peel was best served by Michael Humble while Michael Stevens and Brandon Perry both kicked two goals, however, the Thunder went goalless in the first and fourth terms.
