Round 21 Match Preview Claremont v West Perth
Round 21 Preview Claremont vs. West Perth
By Dan Scamozzi
Fresh off consecutive wins for the first time since rounds 14-16, 2015, Claremont will be looking for three in a row when it faces West Perth at HBF Arena on Saturday.
The Tigers have beaten Swan Districts and Peel Thunder by 54 and 45 points respectively in the past two weeks, and will be looking to replicate their final-round win over the Falcons at the same venue last year.
Claremont have suffered three and seven-point defeats to West Perth this season, however, the Tigers are playing with greater intensity and fluency compared to when the teams last met.
Captain Jake Murphy will look to return from a calf injury after playing for Claremont’s Reserves in Round 20, as the Tigers look to inflict consecutive losses on the Falcons.
Jack Beeck, Keifer Yu, Toby Plant, Bailey Banfield and Jack Richardson will also push for selection, while West Perth will be missing Shane Nelson, with the prolific midfielder suffering facial injuries in the Falcons’ loss to Subiaco.
Victory could see Claremont close to within two wins of the top five.
The club encourages Tiger fans to make the trip and cheer on the team in what is its third of four consecutive away matches.
Bounce down is 2.15pm, following Reserves at 11.30am and Colts at 9am.
