Round 6 Preview Claremont V Peel Thunder NOTE: AT MEDIBANK
By Dan Scamozzi
Claremont will be looking for consecutive wins for the first time this season when it hosts Peel Thunder at Medibank Stadium in ANZAC Round on Saturday.
The fixture was to be played at the Showgrounds, but after a final assessment of the playing surface by turf experts concluded it did not meet minimum standards, Colts, Reserves and League games have all been relocated.
The club are confident the venue will be ready when Claremont host South Fremantle in round eight.
The Tigers enjoyed a 39-point win over East Fremantle in round five, and have risen to third position on the ladder.
Claremont’s total of 19.2 (116) against the Sharks was the most accurate in WAFL history when a team has had 15 or more scoring shots.
Meanwhile, the Thunder are coming off a bye and are level with the Tigers on two wins.
Claremont’s Anton Hamp will be looking to return from a corked calf suffered in round four, while reliable defender Brandon Franz will need to prove his fitness after injuring a knee against East Fremantle.
Midfielder Jared Hardisty will be free to play after having his report for rough conduct against East Fremantle’s James Bristow dismissed.
Haydn Busher will push his case for selection after some outstanding form in the Reserves.
The club encourages all members and fans to attend the game and cheer on the mighty Tigers.
Bounce down is 2.15pm, following Reserves at 11.30am and Colts at 9am.
