Langdon’s Dream Start

Twenty-year-old Zac Langdon became the 1,195th player to don the Claremont jumper in a senior match when he took the field in the WAFL contest against Swan Districts at Bassendean Oval last Sunday.
And what a dream start he had. He came off the interchange bench after about seven minutes and at the 11-minute mark of the opening quarter he received a handpass in the left forward pocket from Darcy Cameron and booted a goal with his first kick in league ranks.
Two minutes later he gained possession and his handpass to captain Jake Murphy resulted in Claremont’s second goal. Langdon’s third kick was an unerring pass marked by Oliver Tate.
Langdon scored his second major late in the second quarter after Jack Bradshaw had driven the ball forward following a spectacular dash down the right (scoreboard) flank by winger Tom Ledger, who took five bounces before delivering perfectly to Bradshaw.
Langdon, who was presented with his No. 43 jumper before the match by his father Darren, hails from the Dampier Sharks team in the North Pilbara League. He won the club’s fairest-and-best award last year after finishing runner-up to his elder brother Guy in 2014.
He finished the match against Swans with four marks, eight kicks and five handpasses. He also applied five tackles and got the ball into his side’s 50m attacking zone three times.
