Claremont Football Club Unveils Team of the Century

The Claremont Football Club has proudly unveiled its Team of the Century, recognising the finest players to have represented the Tigers throughout the Club’s proud 100-year history.

Announced during the Club’s Team of the Century Community Celebration at Revo Fitness Stadium, the side honours generations of outstanding footballers whose achievements, leadership and commitment have helped shape the Claremont Football Club.

Selected from thousands of players who have worn the navy and gold since the Club’s inception in 1926, the Team of the Century celebrates excellence across every era.

Selection Process

The selection committee comprised Ken Venables (Chair), Ken Casellas, John Townsend and Barry Butterworth.

To be eligible for selection the players must have played a minimum of 50 league games for the Claremont Football Club.

Players were selected primarily in the positions they regularly played in throughout their career.

In assessing eligible players the selection committee considered the player’s achievements at CFC and other VFL, AFL and interstate clubs. These achievements included:

• Games played
• Premierships played
• Goals scored
• Club Fairest and Best awards
• WAFL, VFL, AFL awards
• State representation
• All Australian selection
• Hall of Fame selection
• Coaching record
