The Proudies Foundation Annual Golf Day was held at the Lake Claremont Golf course on the 17th March and was an outstanding success.
26 teams of 4 played in fairly hot temperatures and then enjoyed a great meal served at the Teebox Cafe washed down with a lovely selection of Howard Park wines generously donated by Jeff Burch.
Amongst the players were many past players including Wayne Blackwell, Mike Aitken, John Annear, Graham Moss, Rob Melville, Peter Melesso, Andrew McGovern, Wayne Bradshaw, Noel Morton, Dean Farmer, Brenton Hartfield, Brad and Wayne Reynolds, Norm Salomons, Kim Malcolm, Stephen Scott, John Crisp, Mike Salmon. Gerard McNeil, Peter O’Connell.
Teams were playing for the Buzz Parkinson Cup in honour of CFC Hall of Famer and 1967 Sandover Medallist John Parkinson who sadly past away in August of last year. Buzz established the Proudies Foundation Golf day some 10 years ago and over that period of time some $150,000 has been raised for the Proudies Foundation.
The Buzz Parkinson Cup was presented by his wife Wendy-Anne Parkinson to the winning team, comprising Robyn Smith, Jill Benbow, Penny Bower and Shauna McMahon. The winning team also won a table for ten at the President’s Luncheon at a Claremont home game.
The Proudies Golf Day this year raised $16,000 for the Proudies Foundation and will now become an annual fixture in the CFCPPOA calendar of events.
