Claremont Colts Travelling to Broome for KRSP Cup

KRSP | Kimberley Regional Service Providers Cup

Claremont Football Club Colts are travelling to Broome this weekend to play in the Kimberley Regional Service Providers (KRSP) Cup.

The inaugural Kimberley Regional Service Providers Cup was held last year in Broome between Claremont Football Club (Kimberley players) and the Swan Districts Football Club (Pilbara players). Both teams played for Colts premiership points in which Claremont won convincingly and were well represented by our Kimberley region.

This year, Swan Districts pulled out of the game presenting the opportunity for us to try a different concept that we are all very excited about. Through the support of KRSP, for the first time a combined Kimberley Spirit team will play against the City team.

Kimberley Spirit comprises of 22 Kimberley players who have travelled from far and wide to compete against 22 Perth City players.  Each team has their own jumper, both are in Claremont colours.

The Kimberley Spirit team will be coached by Claremont Colts coach Ross McQueen, Claremont City team will be coached by Colts assistant coach Sam Wallace.

The most exciting fact about this trip is that it is not only about football. The Claremont Colts boys will spend a day and night camping in the remote community of Bidyadanga, a two hour trip South West of Broome. During the day, Claremont players will run a football super clinic for the local kids in the community followed by a BBQ and cultural session with the elders of Bidyadanga.

This opportunity would not be possible without the Major Sponsorship of KRSP | Kimberley Regional Services Provider, Support Sponsor Leighton, and the great work and help of Garnduwa. I thank all our players and support staff along with the Kimberley players for making this experience possible.

KEIFER YU MEDAL

The Keifer Yu medal is awarded to the best player on ground for the game. Keifer has been with Claremont Football Club for 6 years, played 26 games of League football, is a Premiership Colts and Reserves player and the longest serving player from the Kimberley Region at the club. Keifer has battled lengthy injuries, showed resilience but has acclimatised into our club culture and become a role model for all players. We continually use Keifer as the benchmark of our expectations for country representation from the Kimberley and Great Southern.
