Round 17 Preview Subiaco v Claremont
By Dan Scamozzi
Claremont will be aiming to bounce back to form when they face Subiaco in Esperance on Saturday afternoon, in partnership with the Department of Sport and Recreation and State Government’s Country Sports Enrichment Scheme (CSES).
The game will be played at Ports Football Club, hosted by the Esperance District Football Association, and will be the fourth WAFL fixture played in Esperance.
There have been 53 WAFL games played with CSES funding since the scheme commenced in 1999 and over $1.3 million contributed to the program during that time.
Overall, 71 WAFL games have been played in country WA since 1984, providing 22 years of consecutive service to regional WA.
Coming off consecutive losses, the Tigers remain one win outside the top five, while the Lions will be chasing their 14th consecutive win.

TALKING POINTS:
- A win for Claremont will see the Tigers jump above West Perth, who have a bye, and could move the team into fifth position, depending on East Perth’s result against Peel Thunder.
- To end their two-game losing streak, the Tigers will need to defeat the Lions for the first time since 2014.
- A win for the Tigers against their traditional rivals would give the team a massive confidence boost heading into their final bye for the season in round 18.
