Redevelopment & Fixturing update 23/2/17
DEAR MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS...
The completion date for the new Club rooms has been delayed which will impact on our early fixtured home games
Construction of the building was significantly delayed early in the construction program when large formations of limestone were encountered during excavation of the Perth Transport Authority’s underground carpark.
This delayed the commencement of the Club rooms by some two months and despite efforts by the Builder, Emco, to make up for lost time this has not been possible. The anticipated completion date is now 28 April 2017.
From that date approximately four weeks will be required for occupancy approvals, the fit out of the offices, change rooms and function rooms and to make the ground operational to stage a home game.
The Board has therefore decided to hold our first home game in Round 12 – 10 June vs East Fremantle and re fixture the first four home games as follows:
Round 5 – 15 April vs South Fremantle to be swapped to Round 21 - 12 August
Round 6 – 22 April vs Subiaco. To be held at East Fremantle Oval
Round 8 – 6 May vs Peel. To be held at Fremantle Oval.
Round 9 – 13 May vs Perth. To be held at Fremantle Oval.
We then have an away game vs West Perth, a general bye for the State game and a fixtured bye.
I appreciate that this represents a significant disruption to the season for our members, supporters and most importantly our players and coaches. However this situation is beyond the control of the Club.
The players will commence training on Claremont Oval from the 8th March and will have temporary change rooms at the Showgrounds.
The Club office will remain at the Showgrounds until we move into the new building sometime in May.
Members will be advised of match day arrangements at East Fremantle and Fremantle Ovals closer to those games.
Members who have purchased a season reserved seat will be contacted to discuss the re fixturing.
I trust that you will bear with us during this disruption and urge you to turn out in force to our re fixtured home games.
The new Club rooms will be amazing and provide members and supporters with facilities which will be the envy of all WAFL Clubs.
Regards,
Graham Moss
